A 14-year-old girl who was an alleged victim of online sexual abuse was rescued while a 67-year-old man was arrested in an operation in Iligan City on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Operatives of the Iligan City Police Office Task Force Against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSEAC) launched the operation after receiving information from a concerned citizen about a possible online sexual abuse or exploitation of a child in Barangay Poblacion.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the victim.

An onsite forensic examination yielded positive results for child sexual abuse or exploitation material (CSAEM).

The victim reportedly told authorities that the suspect abused her sexually.

The task force said the suspect and the victim are not related to each other, and that the victim was introduced to the suspect by her minor friend.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly “groomed“ the victim by giving her money and food in exchange for sex.

The suspect is now detained and will face charges for violation of the Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Act (RA 11930).

“We also express our deep appreciation to our international partners, the Netherland Police, Australian Federal Police, and the International Justice Mission (IJM) for their continuous assistance and collaboration in protecting children and strengthening our operations,” ICPO Task Force OSAEC said.
