Residents of a coastal village in Bataraza, Palawan pulled a 14-foot crocodile from beneath their homes on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in a capture linked to a series of deaths among dogs in the area.

In a report on Super Radyo Palawan, Barangay Councilwoman Semie Didik said the crocodile had been seen many times in Sitio Marabajay and was believed to be the one that killed 15 dogs in recent weeks.

People gathered around as residents worked together to drag the crocodile out from the houses.

However, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) reminded the public that there is no concrete proof that the crocodile captured was responsible for killing the dogs.

PCSD spokesperson Jovic Fabello said crocodiles have similar features so it is difficult to identify the exact one involved in the attacks.

The PCSD and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) are now studying what to do with the crocodile, as of press time.
