Four people were injured after an explosive thrown inside their compound in Barangay Mother Poblacion, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur evening on Thursday, December 4, 2025, went off.

The explosion was captured on CCTV.

Authorities said four residents – three men, 51, 20, and 27 years old, and a 24-year-old woman – who were near the blast at that time sustained injuries from shrapnel.

Three of them were brought to the Integrated Provincial Hospital while one other was rushed to a clinic in the barangay.

A vehicle parked inside the compound was also damaged.

The Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) is still determining the type of explosive thrown in the area and the motive behind the incident.

“Sa ngayon blanko pa ang ating awtoridad kung anong sumabog doon sa lugar at inaalam pa rin natin kung anong motibo dito sa pagpasabog na ito,” PRO-BAR Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, said.

The local government condemned the incident, saying it was meant to disrupt peace in the community.

Local officials called on the perpetrators they described as “spoilers of peace” to stop such acts.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.

“Sa ating lahat, cooperate lang tayo. Lahat naman ginagawa ng ating mga PNP in partnership sa ating law enforcement agencies,” Ventura said.
