A farmer was killed while a municipal councilor was injured after they were ambushed in Barangay Tuka, Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Based on investigation, the alleged motorcycle-riding assailants were waiting for the victims to reach the place of incident and fired shots at their vehicle.

“Sa initial investigation, sila ay inabangan ng alleged riding-in-tandem lulan ng isang motorskilo na walang plaka. Pagdating sa lugar sila ay pinaputukan,” Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, said.

The vehicle was riddled with bullets.

The farmer who was sitting in the backseat died while Montasir Dimalido, town councilor of Sultan sa Barongis, who was driving the vehicle sustained injuries and was brought to a hospital for treatment.

Another town councilor, Abdulmanap Biang, escaped unscathed.

Investigators are looking into personal grudge as possible motive.

“Isa sa tinitingnang angulo is yung personal na away. Yung patay na katawan ay kinuha ng Vice Mayor ng Sultan sa Barongis, while yung isang wounded is stable naman,” Ventura added.

Authorities are pursuing the suspects, as of this writing.
