Authorities foiled a carnapping attempt in General Santos City morning on Friday, December 5, 2025.
In a video footage, a black vehicle is seen swerving while nearly losing its bumper before finally stopping in Zone 9A, Barangay Fatima.
Responding police officers surrounded the vehicle and ordered the driver to step out. However, the suspect attempted to go in reverse, prompting authorities to block the vehicle and strike its tires with stones.
Officers can also be seen hitting the driver’s side window with their firearms. When the suspect still refused to surrender, an officer threw a stone at the vehicle.
Moments later, another police vehicle arrived to assist, but the suspect continued the reverse maneuver. The suspect was eventually forced out of the vehicle and arrested.
According to the General Santos City Police Office, the suspect was identified as a resident of Bukidnon. The vehicle he allegedly stole is owned by his former employer residing in Barangay Fatima.
Police launched a pursuit after receiving an alert that the vehicle had been stolen.
The suspect and the vehicle were taken into police custody.
Authorities are still investigating how the suspect was able to steal the vehicle.
