A policeman sustained minor injuries after the car he was driving fell into a ravine in Barangay Cansomoroy, Balamban, Cebu morning on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

The car was reportedly swept away by raging floodwater at about 5 a.m. on December 7.

The 44-year-old policeman with the rank of Police Master Sergeant, is a resident of Barangay Tubigagmanok,  Asturias town.

He is assigned at the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

Personnel of the Balamban Municipal Police Station responded at the scene.

Based on investigation, the car was traveling from the western section of Cebu toward Cebu City. When the policeman reached the area, he decided driving back to Balamban because of the surge of floodwater and the slippery road. But as he was maneuvering the car back to Balamban, it was swept away by raging floodwater.

Tropical Depression Wilma dumped rains in Cebu for days that induced landslides and flooding in Balamban.

The cop lost control of the car and fell into a ravine estimated to be about 30-foot deep.
