The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Talisay City in Cebu Province will not be joining the Sinulog Festival grand parade and dance showdown in January 2026.

Talisay City's Halad Inasal Festival in honor of its patron saint, Santa Teresa de Avila, is among contingents spectators look forward to in the annual grand parade and dance competition.

Through the years, the Talisay City contingent always makes it to the Top 5 for best performers in the Sinulog-based category.

However, Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas would rather use the funds for post-Typhoon Tino recovery efforts and financial assistance to victims.

Talisay City is among LGUs in Cebu affected severely by the unprecedented level of flooding triggered by torrential rains that Typhoon Tino dumped in the Visayas regions on November 4, 2025.

Earlier, the LGU of Lapu-Lapu City announced it is not joining the Sinulog grand parade in 2026 as resources will be used in its preparation for the hosting of the ASEAN Tourism Forum in January 2026, according to City Tourism Officer Garry Blanco Lao.
