Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 35-year-old security guard in Talakag, Bukidnon who was found lifeless with gunshot and stab wounds in the head after he went out to look for his cow that reportedly escaped.
The victim’s family found him dead in Sitio Babagyohan, Barangay Dagumbaan over the weekend.
Based on investigation, the victim was seen last by his family evening on Friday, December 5, 2025, before he left to check the area where his cow had gone missing.
Police said it was the victim’s friend who informed him that his cow had escaped, prompting the guard to respond.
The next day, the victim’s mother went to the area to check on him and found his lifeless body.
“Nakita na lamang nila nga ang biktima aduna na’y samad-pinusilan nga anaa sa likod nga ulo nga bahin ug aduna usab kini stab wound o kaning samad-dinunggaban sa back portion sa iyaha usab nga likod,”Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Major Joann Navarro, said.
The victim’s family could not think of any reason why he would be killed, saying he had no known conflict with anyone.
Investigators are looking into different angles to eatablish motive.
“Tinuod man gyud pud nga nakabuhi ang maong baka kay nailisan pa gani ang pisi sa maong baka, but kana subject for deeper investigation,” Navarro added.
Authorities urged those who have knowledge about the incident to come forward.
