A carabao was reportedly hanged on purpose in Ibajay, Aklan, while at least 20 dogs were poisoned allegedly in Leganes, Iloilo.

The owner of the carabao, Adel Secciona, found out that her pet carabao was hanged seemingly on purpose, as she left the animal tied to a tree near the fields in Barangay Antipolo, Ibajay.

Secciona said she left the carabao tied to a tree on December 6, 2025. The following day, she went early to the area to check the carabao.

She said she was disheartened at the sight of her pet carabao already dead.

Yung ulo nakatali, parang nakatanga. Yung leeg nilagyan ng tali, parang binigti,” Secciona said.

However, the case of the dead carabao is just one of two similar incidents that happened on December 6.

A barangay councilman confirmed that a carabao owned by the chief barangay tanod (village watchman) was also found dead and seemingly hanged on purpose.

Weeks prior, three similar incidents were reported in Barangay Ondoy, Tagbaya, and Aquino in the said town.

Rezie Bulanon, deputy chief of police of Ibajay Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, at least 20 dogs were poisoned purportedly in Barangay Cari Minor, Leganes.

A caretaker said he woke up at about midnight only to find out that his dog “Max” was dead; froth was observed on the dog’s mouth.

In another incident, a dog named “Moymoy” who provided joy for about five years to the Feguro family was found dead inside the house, and exhibited the same suspicious frothing in the mouth.

“Syempre maaawa ka rin sa hayop na inalagaan mo ng ilang taon,” Oxj Feguro, the dog owner, said.

The dogs are believed to have been poisoned.

However, according to Barangay Cari Minor Chairman Anthony Diaz, only two residents have filed complaints at the barangay on alleged poisoning of dogs.

Poisoning as a cause to the death incidents has not been established yet, he added.
