Prices of chicken meat and fish in Davao City have gone up with the entry of the Christmas season.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, prices of all chicken cuts have increased by at least P20 at the New Agdao Public Market.
From P190 per kilo, they are now sold at P220 per kilo. On the other hand, the price of whole chicken remains at P200 per kilo.
However, prices of pork went down from P360 per kilo to P340 to P350 per kilo.
One of the vendors said it is still uncertain whether the prices of chicken and pork will continue to shoot up in the coming days leading up to Christmas and New Year.
Meanwhile, prices of fish at the Bankerohan Public Market also went up by more than P100 per kilo.
From P210 per kilo last week, matambaka fish is now sold at P340 to P360 per kilo. Bodboron and moro-moro fish now cost P280 and P230 per kilo, respectively.
The price of tulingan remains at P150 per kilo.
There has also been no movement in the prices of bangus, which stays at P90 to P95 per kilo, and tilapia, which ranges from P140 to P200 per kilo, depending on size.
Vendors said their buying prices from suppliers have increased due to the full moon, which reportedly affects fish catch, and the recent storm that reduced supply.
