Goat meat vendors in Calasiao, Pangasinan expect higher demand this Christmas and New Year, but they say prices will remain stable despite the holiday rush.
Many customers have already started reserving goat meat for their holiday meals, and vendors expect even more buyers in the coming weeks.
The price of goat meat has not increased since last month. The meat sells at ₱450 per kilo, while pait and ulo sell at ₱350 per kilo.
Romeo Repollo who has bought goat meat for their Christmas party said the price is still reasonable.
“Okay naman presyo nila, kayang-kaya pa,” he said.
Vendors said supply remains plentiful this December so they do not expect any price surge.
Oscar Dagarag, president of the Calasiao Goat Meat Vendors Association, said they plan to keep prices steady through the holidays.
“Sa ngayon kasi, wala muna silang aasahan, mga customer namin, ng pagbaba. Kasi bukod sa mga supplier, tumataas din. Siguro mag-stable kami ng ₱450 sa presyo ng laman ng kambing hanggang sa New Year na ‘yan siguro,” he said.
The Municipal Veterinary Office continues its regular inspections to ensure the quality and safety of goat meat sold in the area.
