A policeman in General Santos City has been placed under restrictive custody after he reportedly ran amok when he was instructed by his superior to clean the function hall of their headquarters on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Authorities said the suspect is an official of the City Mobile Force Company with a rank of major. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at that time.
Based on investigation, the suspect figured in an altercation with his superior, a police lieutenant colonel. The conflict reportedly started when his superior instructed him to clean the function hall.
The suspect allegedly got upset and ran amok. An electric post was also damaged after it was hit by the suspect’s vehicle when he fled the headquarters.
“Mao to’y inisyal nga nahibal-an nato nga panaglalis nila. Naa nay nahitabo panaglalis, naa nay form of shouting, form of harassment… siyempre, naa man pulis diri tanan… delikado naay hitabo ing-ana, nabulagbog sa kampo, that’s why na-pacify ito dayon through our tactical operations center,” General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) Director, Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, Jr., said.
GSCPO said there may have been underlying personal issues between the two police officials.
“Murag personal ang ilang panagbangi… kato lang mura’g nasabihan lang bahin sa orderliness sa atong PNP Headquarters, murag na-offend mao to’ng gi-dibdib niya pagkagabii… pag-uli namo, wala ko kamalay mao na diay to’ng nahitabo,” Olaivar added.
The police officer who ran amok may face charges. His issued firearm was also confiscated while he is under restrictive custody.
“Administrative sa iyang gibuhat, conduct unbecoming of an officer, and form of harassment sa usa ka officer, unya katong damage to propery,” Olaivar said.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
