President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. arrived in Bacolod City on Friday, December 12, 2025 to inspect initiatives in line with Oplan Kontra Baha (anti-flooding operational plan), and a port improvement project.

The operational plan was launched in the city on December 5, 2025.

Oplan Kontra Baha pursues dredging, declogging, and clearing of waterways and creeks.

The oplan has focused tightly on Mambuloc Creek in Barangay 2, which made it cleaner now compared to the situation in November 2025.

The President was accompanied by both national and local officials. He joined in the actual Oplan Kontra Baha operation.

“Matatanggal natin ang basura at maka-dredge tayo. Estimate ng ating mga scientist, mababawasan ang baha, 50 to 60 percent at least,” the President said.

According to Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo (Albee) Benitez, an additional maintenance plan on keeping the cleanliness of the creek and waterways is laid out.

“We will decide kun ano gid ang mga projects nga i-include ta sa masterplan ta. This is just a start of finding the problems and solving ways para indi na magbaha ang Bacolod,” Benitez said.

The President proceeded to Barangay Banago to inspect the Banago Port Improvement Project.

The operations center at the new operations building of the port is more modern. There is a covered walkway and a wider space for vehicles.

"Kailangan nang baguhin. This is now the standard design for our terminals and ports around the country. Malaking bagay. Tingnan naman ninyo. Maaliwalas, maayos,” the President pointed out.
