Aside from the Mandaue City Police Office, various units of the regional police and national support units assisted in the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group to focus tightly in the investigation on the slay of a lawyer. 

Investigation on the slay of the lawyer is ongoing. As of this writing, the motive of the crime has not yet been established.

The shooting-to-death of the lawyer morning on December 11, 2025 took place in Barangay Bakilid.

In one of videos gathered by the authorities, the culprits were seen to be on board a motorcycle. However, other videos are being checked to help identify the perpetrators whose faces were obscured by their crash helmets.

“Thru the CCTV movement sa assailant naa sab pictures and videos subject i-enhance para ma-identify,” Police Lt. Col. Mercy Villaro-Kantuna, MCPO information officer, said.

The 54-year-old lawyer is identified to be a certified public accountant and is connected with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as an examiner.

As his family keeps a certain business, or trade, this angle is also pursued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) among possible motives.

"Sa iyahang business, sa iyang worklife and also sa personal as to motive di pa nato makuan sa karon kay magdepende pa sa atong evidence,” Kantuna added.

“Walay threat na-receive ang family, we do not know yet sa victim, so atong i-check ang mga electronic devices, mga cellphone kung naa ba siya’y threat,” Kantuna said further.
