A policeman who allegedly shot a member of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in Barangay Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City on Sunday, December 14, 2025, surrendered to authorities.
Based on investigation, the victim was reportedly passing Montesino Drive on his way to work when he noticed his wife’s vehicle parked outside the suspect’s rented apartment.
The victim stopped to verify the situation. The suspect arrived later together with the victim’s wife.
Authorities said that upon seeing the victim, the suspect went inside his apartment to get his firearm and shot the victim in the chest.
The suspect then fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The victim is now in stable condition, as of this writing.
Investigators recovered two fired cartridge cases believed to be from a caliber 9mm pistol from the scene.
The suspect turned himself in to authorities around 8 p.m. and surrendered his gun.
“The Zamboanga City Police Office assures the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that appropriate charges will be filed in accordance with existing laws. ZCPO remains committed to maintaining peace and order and ensuring that justice is served,” the Zamboanga City Police Office said.
The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga (PRO-9) condemned the incident and launched a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.
“The PNP will not tolerate any form of misconduct or criminal behavior committed by any of its members. Should the allegations be substantiated, appropriate criminal and administrative charges will be filed in strict accordance with existing laws, rules, and due process,” PRO-9 said.
