Operatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 seized a total of 3,040 grams of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Purok 8, Barangay Poblacion 1, Tagbilaran City.
The illegal drugs are said to be worth approximately P20.6 million.
Two suspects from Dauis town were arrested on December 14, 2025 in the buy-bust operation. They are alias “Melvin,” 52 years old, a resident of Barangay Totolan, and alias “Joey,” 43 years old, from Purok 2, Barangay Mariveles.
One of them is considered a High-Value Individual (HVI) who operates in Tagbilaran City and neighboring towns, and can dispose of three kilos of illegal drugs monthly.
The operation was carried out at 9:29 p.m. by operatives of the Tagbilaran City Police Station and the Bohol Police Provincial Office.
Authorities confiscated heat-sealed and vacuum-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, communication equipment, and other items.
The pieces of evidence were turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Bohol Forensic Unit in Camp Francisco Dagohoy, Tagbilaran City for laboratory examination.
As of this writing, the suspects are set to be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, PRO 7 director, said that operations are continuous against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city, especially during the holidays.
“These suspects were clearly taking advantage of the upcoming holidays to flood our communities with illegal drugs. Let this serve as a strong warning that PRO 7 is intensifying and gearing up for more comprehensive police operations to protect the public and keep our streets safe,” Maranan said, according to a report on Pulis Serbis Balita via a post on Police Community Affairs and Development Group - National Headquarters on Facebook.
