An incumbent barangay chairman and his companion were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Sulop, Davao del Sur evening on Monday, December 15, 2025.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Davao (PDEA-11), the chairman identified as alias “Kap,” 36, was arrested after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a PDEA agent who acted as a poseur-buyer.
The suspect’s companion identified as alias “Dionisio” was also arrested.
More sachets of suspected shabu worth more than P156,000 were confiscated from the suspects.
The suspects arrested are now detained and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).
Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the alleged involvement of the barangay official in the illegal drug trade.
