Four persons involved in a land title scam were arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation - Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI-CEVRO).

Footage from a body camera of NBI-CEVRO operatives showed the four suspects in an establishment in Mandaue City while an entrapment operation was facilitated.

As soon as the transaction was consummated, the suspects were informed by NBI agents of their violations.

According to Atty. Rennan Augustus Oliva, NBI-CEVRO director, two men and two women were nabbed, while another female suspect is at large.

The entrapment operation was conducted past 4 p.m. on December 10, 2025.

The NBI-CEVRO operation stemmed from a complaint filed by a businessman who fell into the modus of the accused.

The victim engaged in a real estate mortgage agreement, particularly the pawning of a property in Cebu City.

The suspects presented a land title to get P4 million.

However, the victim found out that the land title is fake. He sought the assistance of NBI-CEVRO to have the suspects collared.

As of this writing, appropriate charges have been filed against the accused for falsification of the land title. However, the four are out on temporary liberty after posting bail worth P36,000 each.

Meanwhile, another individual sought the assistance of NBI-CEVRO upon learning of the entrapment operation.

He checked whether the accused were the same persons who duped reportedly his colleague years ago, and positively identified them.

NBI-CEVRO reminds the public to be cautious always when engaging in transactions involving money.
