The pieces of jewelry carted away by robbers from a mall in Pavia, Iloilo were estimated to be worth over P30 million, according to the Pavia Police on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
The Pavia Police have not ruled out the possibility of “inside job” in the burglary.
Cash worth over P700,000 were stolen from three establishments inside the mall.
According to Police Captain Ritz Field Presquito, chief of Pavia Municipal Police Station, the owner of the pawnshop and jewelry shop said that the pieces of jewelry lost to thieves reached over P30 million, while over P200,000 cash was taken from the vault of the pawnshop.
Over P550,000 cash was taken forcibly from a money-changer establishment, he added.
Nothing was taken from the massage shop where the culprits gained entry through the floor from a drainage canal. No footage was available from the massage shop’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, as the equipment is shut off as the establishment closes.
However, a CCTV footage from the money-changer firm is available, but is yet being enhanced, while other footages are yet up for release.
The authorities have included the angle on probable “inside job.”
Based on initial police investigation, three persons sneaked inside the mall premises dawn on December 17, 2025. A lookout is possible, as well as the availability of a getaway vehicle.
Recovered from the crime scene are a pair of gloves and a long screwdriver.
