A multi-vehicle collision involving five vehicles disrupted traffic along a stretch of the national highway in Barangay Batakil, Pozorrubio in Pangasinan morning on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Based on videos and CCTV footage, a van was traveling on the road when it suddenly crossed into the opposite lane and hit an oncoming truck. The impact caused the truck to collide with a passing tricycle and a parked vehicle, while another vehicle from behind also struck the van.

The tricycle driver was thrown off his vehicle and trapped under the truck. Authorities responded quickly and pulled the driver out from beneath the vehicle safely.

Pozorrubio Municipal Police Station investigating officer PMSg. Norman Asperas said initial findings point to possible driver error.

“Ang pagkakaalam ko, na-lose control siya [’yung driver ng van] doon sa sasakyan niya. Possibly baka nakaidlip, eh inagaw po niya ‘yung linya ng truck kaya nagkaroon po ng banggaan,” Asperas said.

The drivers of the van, truck, and tricycle suffered injuries and fractures, while three other individuals were also hurt. Police said all injured victims are now in stable condition.

Asperas said the families of those involved have already spoken with police and are open to settling the matter.

“May dumating na relatives dito sa police station. Lahat ng involved parties is may initial naman silang usapan na willing naman silang makipag-settle,” he added.

Police said accidents often happen along this portion of the national highway that connects the towns of Sison and Pozorrubio.

Authorities reminded motorists again to follow traffic rules and ensure they are physically fit to drive to avoid similar incidents.
