A teacher at Aklan State University (ASU) in the Municipality of Kalibo received a bomb threat on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

The message was sent through a Facebook Messenger account using the handle “Laylay Koi” past 8 a.m. 

According to the sender, seven bombs are placed allegedly in the entire university.

“Insigida, noong malaman natin at na-confirm yung nangyari about doon sa message na iyon, we instructed yung pamunuan ng school na mag-evacuate na yung mga students na nandoon sa school premises for the precautionary measures. And in preparation na din po, for the paneling na gagawin ng ating EOD [Explosives and Ordinance Division] K9,” Lt. Col. Jerick Vargas, chief of Kalibo Philippine National Police, said.

The school was cleared from any presence of bombs by 11 a.m.

This is the second bomb threat in Kalibo, Aklan. To recall, St. Dominic School of Kalibo received a bomb threat on December 4, 2025.

ASU cancelled classes in all of its campuses on December 18 to ensure safety.

The Kalibo Police has focused on the possibility of threats to the festival highlights of the forthcoming Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival.

The Kalibo Municipal Police Station has extended further its monitoring and education campaign.

“Nagko-conduct na po tayo ng symposium hindi lang sa school, even in business establishments and in barangays para maging aware sila at ma-inform kung ano ang mga penalidad na pwedeng kaharapin nila if ever na isa sa kanila ang gagawa ng gano’ng krimen,” Vargas added.
