Authorities arrested several individuals for damaging city government posters that remind the public about the anti-mendicancy ordinance along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

The City of San Fernando Task Force Anti-Mendicancy said the posters were placed to inform residents about the city’s rules against begging. However, some beggars allegedly tore down or destroyed the posters on purpose.

Task force members arrested the individuals involved during operations in the area. Authorities said the action violated city rules and disrupted public information efforts.

Depending on their age and situation, some of those arrested will face charges. Others will be turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) for proper assistance.

The city government again urged the public to follow and respect the anti-mendicancy ordinance and to cooperate with authorities in keeping public areas orderly.
