Several alleged illicit liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders worth nearly P900,000 were seized from two warehouses in Barangay Panacan, Davao City.

Personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and representatives of a gas company confiscated the LPG cylinders by virtue of two search warrants for violation of the LPG Industry Regulation Act (RA 11592).

CIDG said the LGP cylinders were allegedly possessed, stored, and concealed illegally because of the absence of the authorization from the gas company.

The personalities behind allegedly operated without a valid license and registration from the Department of Energy (DOE) .

“The Director of CIDG emphasized that the State protects the interests of end-consumers, ensure their general welfare, and establish standards of conduct for business; and institutes reforms in the existing standards of conduct and codes of practice for the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industry, including importing, refining, storing exporting, refilling, transportation, distribution, and marketing of LPG,” CIDG said.

CIDG added that the confiscation of the items will help protect the public from the potential hazards that the unlawfully stored LPG cylinders may cause.
