A man believed to be under the influence of alcohol drowned while swimming at a beach resort in Barangay Dawis, Digos City, Davao del Sur on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the man was a 28-year-old resident of Makilala, North Cotabato.
Based on investigation, the man attended a Christmas party with his family and reportedly got intoxicated. He went swimming later but was not seen afterward.
After nearly an hour, personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office found the man floating near the shore, already unconscious.
Rescue efforts were made, but the man was declared dead later.
Authorities reminded the public anew to act responsibly during the holidays and to avoid drinking alcohol before swimming in the sea.
