Authorities have arrested a man who was about to deliver suspected illegal drugs and explosives in Barangay Bañadero, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental over the weekend.

Personnel of the Ozamiz City Police Station launched an operation after receiving information about the alleged delivery of illegal items.

Seized were suspected shabu and three hand grenades.

Police said the items confiscated were intended for unlawful distribution.

“The recovered explosives and illegal drugs posed a serious threat to public safety and were promptly secured as evidence for proper disposition,” police said.

The suspect may face charges for violations of illegal possession of explosives (RA 9516) and Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).

Ozamiz City Police Station chief, Lt. Col. Harvey Abellanosa, lauded the operating unit for the successful operation.

“Through timely intelligence and coordinated police action, potential threats were neutralized. We remain steadfast in our duty to protect the community and prevent criminal elements from endangering public safety,” Abellanosa said.
