At least 10 houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City, while at least 14 houses were destroyed in Sitio Esmara, Sambag Dos. 

The fire destroyed 10 houses in Barangay Basak Pardo on Monday, December 22, 2025.

The fire that was earlier reported to be in Barangay Kinasang-an, occurred actually in Sitio Kauswagan, Basak Pardo at 10:48 a.m.

At least 13 families were displaced.

The fire was controlled by 11:30 a.m., according to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

No casualty was reported. No one was reported injured in the incident.

As of this writing, further investigation on the cause of the incident is ongoing. 

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Central Visayas Regional Director Fred Trajeras has reminded the public to be cautious, and mindful always about fire safety, especially in celebrating Christmas and the New Year.

A fire also struck houses in Barangay Sambag Dos, Cebu City on December 20.

At least 14 houses were destroyed; 10 were razed while four were partially burnt in Sitio Esmara, Sambag Dos.

The fire spread immediately because of narrow alleyways leading to the interior portion.

The Cebu City Fire Office checked on the house of one Emely Buenavista where the fire started as alleged.

According to SFO3 Wendell Villanueva, spokesperson of the Cebu City Fire Office, it is possible the fire started at a wire of an electric post connected to Buenavista’s house.

The fire victims were evacuated temporarily at a space outside of the community chapel.
