A 46-year-old man died after the fuel tanker truck he was driving fell into a ravine in Barangay Bayagan, Cagayan de Oro City early Monday, December 22, 2025.

Based on investigation, the truck was reportedly traveling toward the city proper when the accident happened.

Witnesses reportedly told authorities that the vehicle was not overspeeding at that time, and upon reaching a curved portion of the road, the truck went straight toward the ravine and fell around 167 feet deep.

Police said no skid marks were found on the road, which indicated that the driver may not have applied the brakes.

Investigators raised the possibility that the driver may have dozed off while driving.

Personnel from the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team conducted retrieval operations and recovered the driver’s lifeless body after nearly an hour.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
