The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has recorded one firecracker-related injury involving a minor from December 21 until 6 a.m. of December 24, 2025.
According to the provincial government, this marks a 75 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
“This significant decrease shows that collective efforts toward safety awareness are making a difference,” the provincial government said.
The Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) said the lone case involved a six-year-old who sustained an injury while handling an illegal firecracker at home.
The child was treated as an outpatient and is now in stable condition.
PESU reported that no fireworks-related deaths and no stray bullet incidents have been recorded in the province, as of this writing.
As the holiday celebrations continue, the public is urged to prioritize safety by avoiding illegal fireworks, keeping children away from fireworks, supervising minors closely, and choosing safer alternatives such as noise makers or community fireworks display.
