Six persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in the Province of Negros Occidental were released on Christmas Eve.
The six PDLs were released from the Negros Occidental District Jail Male Dormitory based on Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) in time for the Christmas celebration, to be with their respective family.
"Every month nagde-deliberate kami. Tinitingnan namin kung ilan yung eligible na PDL na pwedeng maka-avail. Technically, na-release sila sa good behavior. Magandang pamasko na rin,” said JInsp. Rei John Luntok, assistant jail warden of the said male dormitory.
According to a provision of Republic Act 10592, GCTA is granted to PDLs who take part in the rehabilitation program, exhibit consistent good behavior, and heed facility policies piously.
Margie Infante, wife of a PDL, hopes that the day would come her husband would be granted a similar privilege.
“Magbago siya sa kanyang mga ginagawa. Kahit hindi tayo magkasama, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, advance,” Infante said in a message to her husband.
