An alleged female rebel was arrested in Butuan City for rebellion and crimes against humanity.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified the suspect as a 26-year-old resident of Barangay Farmbugas, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

She was arrested by virtue of warrants for rebellion or insurrection under Article 134 of the Revised Penal Code and for violation of the Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity (RA 9851) issued by the Gingoog and Cagayan de Oro City courts in 2021 and 2022.

CIDG said the suspect is a member of the medical unit of Sandatahang Digma Group Samsung, Guerilla Front Huawei of the New People’s Army’s North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Based on reports, the suspect was allegedly involved in several atrocities and terroristic acts in the towns of Claveria and Lagongong in Misamis Oriental, including the burning of two 10-wheeler trucks owned by a food company in 2017.

“The arrest underscores the Unit’s unyielding stance against wanted persons, and significantly helped the government on its fight against terrorism,” CIDG said.
