A police officer was injured while six men were arrested during the service of a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms in Davao City evening on Monday, December 29, 2025.

During the operation led by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, Col. Mannan Muarip, the suspects allegedly fought back and engaged the operating team in an exchange of fire.

One of the operatives identified as Patrolman Geordy Fiel was hit in the left leg.

The subject of the warrant identified as alias “Rey-Rey” also attempted to throw a PRB-423 fragmentation grenade but did not explode.

The suspects were arrested with four firearms.

Several residents in the area were evacuated temporarily as a precaution while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team secured the scene and ensured that it was free from explosives.

The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591), frustrated murder, and attempted murder.
