A 27-year-old man was arrested in an entrapment operation for allegedly selling firecrackers illegally at the Toril Public Market in Toril, Davao City on Monday, December 29, 2025, amid the city’s firecracker ban.

The operation was launched after authorities monitored the selling of prohibited pyrotechnic devices in the area.

Seized from the suspect were several illegal firecrackers.

The suspect will face charges for violation of the Davao Firecracker Ban Ordinance and Republic Act 7183 or An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and other Pyrotechnic Devices.

“We strongly remind everyone that the use, sale, and possession of illegal firecrackers are prohibited and we will continue to strictly enforce the law. Davao City is a No-firecracker zone pursuant to City Ordinance 060-02, so everybody is prohibited to use, possess, or sell any firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices while in the City,” Police Station 8 Commander, Major Sheryl Bautista, said.
