A 19-year-old man was injured after firecracker exploded in Barangay Carmen, Boston, Davao Oriental.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, Kenneth Pawaon of the Boston Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the victim was lighting a piccolo firecracker while at his workplace.
The explosion severed a portion of the victim’s finger. He was rushed to the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City for treatment.
Authorities said this is the first recorded case of firecracker-related injury in the town.
Police reminded the public earlier that piccolo is among the types of firecrackers that are prohibited.
