Workers in the private sector in Northern Mindanao are set to receive an increase in their daily minimum wage starting in January 2026.
This comes after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-10) approved a P39 increase in the minimum daily wage for non-agriculture and agriculture sectors in wage categories 1 and 2.
The cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador, and Ozamiz and the towns of Tagoloan, Villanueva, Jasaan, Opol, Maramag, Quezon, Manolo Fortich and Lugait belong to wage category 1, while wage category 2 includes all other areas not mentioned in the category 1 and all retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers.
The increase will be implemented in two tranches – P25 on January 16, 2026, and P14 on May 1, 2026.
This means that from P461, the minimum daily wage for category 1 will now be P486 starting January 16, 2026. It will then increase to P500 on May 1, 2026.
On the other hand, from P446, the minimum daily wage for category 2 will now be P471 starting January 16, 2026. It will also increase to P485 on May 1, 2026.
Meanwhile, domestic workers or kasambahays will also receive a P500 increase in their minimum monthly wage, bringing their salary from P6,000 to P6,500.
