More than 30 people were brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City due to road accidents before the New Year celebrations.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, Dr. Antonio Solar, Jr., family medicine doctor at SPMC, said a total of 27 patients were brought to the hospital on December 30, 2025.

The next day, at least six more patients were treated for road accident-related injuries, two of whom were reportedly in critical condition.

Authorities said many motorists were believed to have been rushing because of the holiday while some may have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

SPMC remains under Code White Alert, as of this writing, and is on standby for possible emergencies.
