A girl in Davao City would have turned seven years old on January 10, 2026 but the first day of 2026 became the last day of her life as she drowned in a creek in Sitio Pangyan, Barangay Tamugan.
A video taken before the incident showed the girl joining happily with her relatives for a swim. However, the girl went missing a few minutes after they began bathing, and drowned.
The girl was unconscious when she was pulled out of the water while people in the area panicked as they tried to revive the girl.
According to the mother of the child, the girl asked to join her relatives in swimming at the creek. It was reportedly her first time to swim in the area.
Mao to pagka nakit-an na dayon nila dili man dugay nga nawala, kadyot rajud kaayo nakit-an nila. Unya wala ng bata, kanang lumoy na,” the girl’s mother, Maria Cristine Roble, said.
The girl was brought home to Barangay Megkawayan where relatives claimed she still had a heartbeat.
Roble shared that the girl had earlier shown what she described as “signs of farewell.”
