<p>The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 has ordered the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) to intensify investigation on the death of Dueñas, Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan.</p><p>Lamasan expired at the hospital on New Year's Eve while receiving treatment for her wound on the belly due to alleged accidental firing on December 30, 2025.</p><p>According to Major Lailyn Sencil, spokesperson of PRO 6, the ICPO is set to undertake an intensive probe on all possible angles in the incident through the creation of a special investigation team.</p><p>“Tututukan ito ng S.I.T. upang ma-pinpoint natin kung ano ba ang behind sa insidenteng ito at kung ano pa ang details at least, ma-resolve na natin once and for all ang case na ito,” Sencil said.</p><p>Col. Kim Legada, ICPO director, said they are studying the circumstances and pieces of evidence gathered from Lamasan’s residence in La Paz District, Iloilo City where the incident happened, including the statement made by Lamasan’s live-in partner, Lord Byron Torrecarion who is the lone companion of the vice mayor at that time. </p><p>“Iniisa-isa natin ang mga sirkumstansya. We don’t want to speculate, kung ano ang ma-account natin sa witnesses at ebidensya that would represent kung ano ang mangyari,” Legada said.</p><p>On January 1, 2026, La Paz Philippine National Police (PNP) sent reportedly a request for Torrecarion to undergo a paraffin test. However, according to Legada, Torrecarion has not replied yet.</p><p>Legada confirmed that Lamasan owned the 9mm pistol earlier reported to have set off accidentally and hit her on the belly. </p><p>"Whatever the evidences (we) are presenting, we will definitely shed light sa situation. We are not closing our windows sa kung ano man na possibilities,” Legada added.</p><p>In an official statement, the Lamasan family said they are deeply saddened by the incident. They cited that the vice mayor is a good public servant.</p><p>The family asks the public to join in praying for the eternal repose of Lamasan’s soul.</p><p>The family is set to issue another official statement, specifically on Lamasan’s death.</p><p>The news team tried once again to get a statement from Lamasan’s live-in partner, Torrecarion who is the former director of the Office of Civil Defense Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) and is assigned currently at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office.</p><p>However, he has not replied yet to any of the news team’s messages sent through his social media account.</p>
