A man and his female companion were shot dead in Kidapawan City on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Police identified the victims as residents of Canapia Subdivision and River Park Subdivision.

Based on investigation, the victims were heading toward Barangay Balindog when the incident happened.

Police said the victims were navigating Purok Mangosteen in Barangay Lanao on board their vehicle when an unidentified suspect shot them.

The suspect reportedly fled the area on board a sedan.

Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the gunman and determine the motive.

“We strongly condemn the recent shooting incident that transpired at Barangay Lanao, Kidapawan City. The Kidapawan CPS is exerting all efforts to resolve the matter promptly, to facilitate a thorough investigation, and to identify the possible perpetrators. We remain committed to ensure justice and maintain peace and safety in our community,” Kidapawan City Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Lt. Col. Argie Celeste, said.
