Over 6,000 peacekeepers for the Sinulog 2026 festivity took part in a send-off ceremony on Monday, January 5, 2026.

At least 6,657 peacekeepers are composed of 2,816 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), 145 members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); 1,688 members of the Philippine Navy; 637 of the Philippine Army, 324 from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), 100 from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), 20 personnel of the Department of Health (DOH), including personnel of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) and other force multipliers.

The program opened with a Holy Mass at the Cebu City Sports Center presided by clergymen from the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño who took with them the image of the Holy Child.

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, Police Regional Office 7 director; and regional head of various government agencies led the send-off ceremony.

The send-off proper started with the blessing of the peacekeepers, and on to the blessing of vehicles and equipment - PNP patrol cars, ambulance units, motorcycles, among others.

The peacekeepers vowed to maintain peace and order in the Sinulog celebration, a huge event in Cebu City and the province, for both the Feast of the Señor Santo Niño (on the religious aspect) and the Sinulog Festival (on the sociocultural aspect).

In addition, PRO 7 takes pride in its state-of-the-art mobile command vehicle complete with monitoring equipment set for a 24/7 operation. This is said to be the first-ever mobile command vehicle in Central Visayas that will be used not only in the Sinulog festivity but in the forthcoming ASEAN Summit as well, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit.

The mobile command vehicle is part of the modernization efforts of the PNP.

Moreover, the Local Government Unit of Cebu City and the PNP made it clear there is no jamming of telecommunication network signal during the Sinulog festivity.
