One of the replicas of the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno arrived at the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao City for a three-day visit over the weekend and is set to visit other churches ahead of the feast day on Friday, January 9, 2026.
The replica was welcomed warmly at the San Pedro Cathedral from the Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel.
Devotees offered prayers before the image was brought inside the cathedral.
This replica is the 10th official replica of the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno from Quiapo, Manila.
During the Mass, church leaders reminded the faithful that devotion is a testament to one’s love for God.
“We must be awakened that our eyes maybe opened to real meaning kung bakit tayo nagdedeboto. Dahil gusto ng Diyos na tayo ay magiging katulad ng anak niyang si Hesukristo. Ang tinuod nga naga debosyon masinugtanon, dili masinupakon sa Diyos,” Rev. Fr. Amiel Arado of the San Pedro Cathedral said.
The replica will remain at the San Pedro Cathedral until January 5. It will be at the Our Lady of Assumption Parish from January 6-7 and at the San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish on January 8.
On the feast day on Friday, January 9, a solemn Traslacion will be held at 8 a.m., starting from San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish in Barangay Mandug and ending at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel.
Two Masses will be celebrated on the feast day at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the San Pedro Cathedral will hold a procession in commemoration of the Traslacion at 3:30 p.m., followed by a Holy Mass at 5:30 p.m.
