The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has extended the flight ban around two of the country's active volcanoes -- Mayon in Albay and Kanlaon in Negros Island -- until Tuesday, January 6, 2026 due to the risk of sudden eruptions.
According to a 24 Oras report, CAAP said its Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) will remain in effect until 9 a.m. on January 6.
The GMA News Online report said the agency added that flying near the two volcanoes, both at Alert Level 2, or intensified unrest, is strictly prohibited, as sudden eruptions could endanger aircraft.
CAAP said it continues to monitor conditions at both volcanoes, the GMA News Online report said further.
