A taxicab plowed into individuals who were attending to a woman hit by a motorcycle in Oton, Iloilo. The incident was captured on video.

The video showed persons in the middle of the road assisting a woman who was hit by a motorcycle. Later, a taxi traversed the spot where the persons were gathered and plowed into two men.

The incident happened in Barangay Botong, Oton past 11 p.m. on January 3, 2026.

Police investigation said that alias “Nene,” 18 years old, was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road. Alias “Nonoy,” 22 years old, and alias “Toto,” 32 years old, rushed to help her, along with other bystanders.

The three sustained wounds and scrapes on the face, head, and on other body parts.

Police confirmed that all three victims are safe and are recuperating at the hospital, as of this writing.

“After nilang tumulong, accidentally, may paparating na taxi mula Cabanbanan, nabangga ang umaakay kay Nene. Nag-complain siya na ang lower na bewang niya, hindi niya magalaw,” said SSG Rosenie Agutaya, Oton Municipal Police Station investigator.

The taxi driver, alias “Fredo,” 65 years old, is a resident of Culasi, Antique. He told police he did not see the persons huddled on the road as it was raining.

The 31-year-old motorcycle rider that earlier hit “Nene” used the same alibi.

“Ang sabi ng bystanders, prior ng pagbangga ng taxi sa kanila, may naga-sign na nga may V.A. [vehicular accident] ahead sa kanya. Kaya lang, hindi niya nakita kasi umuulan,” Agutaya added.

The two drivers were taken into police custody but were released by the police as soon as the parties reached an amicable settlement.
