Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Maritime Group rescued four Eastern grass owl chicks at a grassy area in Barangay Quirino, Padada, Davao del Sur on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The operation was carried out after authorities received information from a concerned citizen regarding the presence of the Eastern grass owl chicks in the area.
Maritime police responded immediately to ensure the safety of the birds and to protect them from possible harm.
The responding officers then coordinated with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-Digos City to ensure proper care.
“Ang insidenteng ito ay patunay ng patuloy na pangako ng PNP–Maritime Group hindi lamang sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at kaayusan sa karagatan at baybayin, kundi pati na rin sa pangangalaga sa kalikasan at wildlife bilang mahalagang bahagi ng pambansang yaman,” PNP-Maritime Group said.
The PNP-Maritime Group reminded the pubic to report to authorities any wildlife-related incidents.
