An 18-year-old man was arrested in an entrapment operation in Davao City for allegedly blackmailing his minor ex-girlfriend and forcing her to elope with him by threatening to spread her private videos and photos on social media.
According to a report by GMA’s 24 Oras, the suspect identified as alias “Reymart” met his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend identified as alias “Rish” by the road in Davao City.
Authorities said the victim was forced to meet her ex-boyfriend as the latter has her private videos and photos.
Police said the suspect threatened to leak the explicit materials if the minor ex-girlfriend would refuse to run away with him.
“Ito ay ang ukol sa pananakot ng kanyaang ex-boyfriend na para pilitin siyang magtanan. Mahal na mahal niya yung babae kaya gusto niyang itanan,” PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group Acting Director, Brigadier General Wilson Asueta, said.
Police said that to pressure the victim further, the suspect allegedly accessed the Facebook account of his ex-girlfriend. Because he knew the password, he allegedly created a chat group that included the victim’s relatives. There, he posted her private videos and photos.
“So ipinakalat ito sa kanyang relatives. Pero ang pananakot sa kanya pag hindi niya ginawa yun ay ipapakalat lalo sa mas malawak ng social media platform,” Asueta added.
The victim sought help from the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, prompting authorities to launch the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect is facing charges for grave coercion in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act (RA 10175).
