A 77-year-old man died after he was attacked by a 48-year-old former Philippine Army member in Buguey, Cagayan on January 4, 2026.
Authorities found the victim covered in blood with wounds to the head and other parts of his body.
According to witnesses, the suspect used a bolo knife and fled on a motorcycle after the attack. Police arrested him later at his home.
The suspect reportedly has a standing arrest warrant for a rape case. He is now in police custody and has not made a statement.
Police continue to investigate the motive behind the killing. The victim’s family is yet to release a statement.
