Less than a week after the surging-in of 2026, bomb threats hounded again two schools in Kalibo, Aklan.

The messages were received through social media accounts on January 6, 2026.

“Same sa nangyari doon sa previous incident namin sa isang school din na social media yung ginamit," said Lt. Sally Mar Bretaña, public information officer of Kalibo Municipal Police Station.

School operations were suspended temporarily, while students were sent home.

After the authorities conducted a paneling, and later cleared the schools, operations went back to normal.

Establishing the identity of the culprits poses a challenge to the authorities.

“Kasi on the part kasi ni Kalibo PNP [Philippine National Police], wala siyang, kumbaga wala siyang resources to locate these na mga ganito since yung ginamit is social media accounts,” Bretaña said.

Kalibo Municipal Police Station advises schools that would receive similar threats to avoid panic and to report immediately the incident to the authorities.

To recall, two schools in Kalibo, Aklan received bomb threats on December 4 and 18, 2025, respectively.
