Around 23,000 devotees from Cagayan de Oro City and other areas joined the Traslacion of the Jesus Nazareno on Friday, January 9, 2026, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD).

After a Holy Mass at the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral at 3 a.m., the image of the Jesus Nazareno was brought out and carried along Velez Street, Julio Pacana Street, and CM Recto Avenue.

The image arrived at the Jesus Nazareno Parish at past 7 a.m.

The image of the Jesus Nazareno was brought to the St. Augustine Cathedral, where a vigil was held from 9:30 p.m. on Thursday until the dawn Mass.

The local government also set up a mobile kitchen where rice porridge and coffee were served to devotees.

More than 1,000 police officers were deployed along major roads to ensure peace and order.

Carrying of bladed weapons, alcoholic beverages, and any sharp objects was prohibited during the Traslacion 2026, while pregnant women, children, senior citizens, and individuals with medical conditions were discouraged to join the procession.
