A 15-year-old girl who had been missing for two days was found beheaded at a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Dagat, Valencia City, Bukidnon on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Police said the victim, a high school student, was reported missing on January 6 after she failed to return home from school.

“Adunay usa ka patay'ng lawas sa usa ka menor de edad nga iyang ulo is na-separate na sa iyang lawas,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, as of this writing, to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive.

Investigators are also looking into whether the victim was raped first before she was killed.

Police said the area where the victim’s body was found is along the route she usually took going home. She would reportedly go home around 4:30 p.m.

“Adunay ocular inspection nga ilang ginahimo pagpang-interview labi na sa katong panahon nga last kini nakita. Usually, gauli kini around 4:30 p.m. sa ilang balay, which is also mga kilometer away sa school kung asa sila ga tungha,” Navarro added.

Police urged those who have knowledge about the incident to come forward and coordinate with authorities.
