A 47-year-old man was arrested in a manhunt operation in Davao Oriental after he allegedly raped and molested his minor stepdaughter in Cagayan de Oro City for nearly nine years.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified the suspect as alias “Sherwin,” a resident of Barangay Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City.

The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for seven counts of qualified rape of a minor and four counts of acts of lasciviousness issued by a court in Cagayan de Oro City on August 4, 2025.

CIDG said the suspect was tagged as the number four most wanted person of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10).

Authorities said the suspect allegedly raped and molested his minor stepdaughter several times from 2016 to August 2024.

The victim was reportedly eight years old when the alleged abuse began.

“Out of threat and fear from her stepdad, the pitiful child did not tell the incidents of sexual abuse to anyone including her mother, until the time that she can no longer bear the pain and trauma from the 9-year ordeal,” CIDG said.

It was reportedly in 2025 when the victim revealed everything to her mother, and they filed a complaint immediately on June 30, 2025.

The suspect was then arrested in Mati City, Davao Oriental on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

“The CIDG assures the public that Unit is the steadfast in pursuing and capturing all criminals, most wanted persons and fugitives across the country- especially accused of qualified rape and sexual abuse of minors,” CIDG said.
