The heavy rains that triggered flooding in several areas in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental affected nearly 100 residents.
Floodwaters reportedly reached chest- to neck-deep levels in some barangays affected.
Several residents were also rescued after being stranded by the floodwaters.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the flooding occurred after heavy rains poured over the upland areas around 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Authorities added that the volume of rain exceeded the capacity of the drainage system.
“Although naa ta’y mga drainage na-construct na pero sa kakusog sa ulan sa bukid ug diri sa poblacion mao to wala nakaya sa drainage,” MDRRMO Head, Ron Bombeo, said.
However, floodwaters subsided after a few hours, and nearly 100 residents affected have since returned to their homes.
MDRRMO personnel have started conducting a damage assessment.
